Review by Christoph von Gallera

The album Fader Mix by Shlohmo is a unique and captivating experience. The third person perspective of the review allows for an unbiased view of the music, which is a blend of electronic, hip-hop, and experimental sounds.

The album is a mix of various tracks, each with its own distinct flavor. The tracks are expertly mixed, creating a seamless flow from one to the next. Shlohmo's use of samples and beats is impressive, and his ability to create a mood and atmosphere is evident throughout the album.

The standout tracks on the album include "Buried," "Ghosts Pt. 2," and "No More." "Buried" is a haunting track that features eerie vocals and a slow, brooding beat. "Ghosts Pt. 2" is a more upbeat track that features a catchy melody and a driving beat. "No More" is a dreamy track that features ethereal vocals and a soft, melodic beat.

Notes

  • LA cassette hoarder and producer Shlohmo called his excellent debut full-length Bad VIbes, and told FACT that making it, mostly, he was, “just trying to get some shit off my chest to feel sane.” He kindly made a mix especially for the FADER, and its full of heart on the floor, billowing strokes of hurt. It’s there—stewing in Memphis gospel, turning his Queen Latifah tapes and favorite Drake singles into plodding prayers—that Shlohmo feels most present. There are ups too: an amphetamine love letter intro from electro/punk pioneers Survive and the crest of Koreless’ “The Look” remix 19 minutes in. Later, he wraps things up with Tom Waits.
