Review by Rohit Yadav

Calico's September Tears Come On Down To Texas is a refreshing and soulful album that showcases the band's talent and versatility. From the opening track, "Lone Star State," to the closing ballad, "September Tears," the album takes listeners on a journey through the heart of Texas.

The album's standout tracks include "Long Way Home," a foot-stomping country-rock anthem, and "Jolene," a heartfelt cover of Dolly Parton's classic song. The band's harmonies are impeccable, and their instrumentation is top-notch, with standout performances from the lead guitarist and fiddle player.

My good friend and old coworker, Joe Copeland played guitar on this track. An incredible human being with a heart of gold. I miss you man.

I used to be a DJ at a country station - and never understood why this song wasn't a big hit. It has stuck in my head for years.

Fitting song to re-hear given the spirit and resilience of Texans in the wake of hurricane Harvey. It may sound banal, but I am proud to be a Texan!

This song always brings a tear to my eye. We wore out our cassette tape when we moved with our young family to California from Texas back in 1981...and it was playing when we crossed the state line when we moved back in 1985 (we both shed tears of joy). Now we're finally home for good after living on both coasts..."the lone star life will grace our lives when it's time for growing old...".

Discovered these guys in early '75 at the Mineshaft in Arlington, TX. Replaced by city hall. They had a great sound, there was $1 pitcher beer, red beer, too, and several gals from nearby Bauder College (long gone).
Had a good range of songs from the Byrds, Bob Dylan, and old country standards...and this great one.

I saw Willie at the Sportatorium, too, but Calico wasn't with him. My husband used to joke that if they ever wanted to drain Dallas, that's where they'd pull the plug.

I remember this song from early 1975.
